Maths: place value

What is the value of the 5 in 5,842?

  1. 5
  2. 50
  3. 500
  4. 5,000
  5. 50,000

Answer D. 5,842 = 5 thousands, 8 hundreds, 4 tens and 2 units, so the 5 is worth 5,000.

Every question is independently checked

Before a question goes into the game it goes through a quality gate:

We cannot promise that a mistake will never slip through. If you spot one, use Report a problem in the parent area.

What about my school’s test?

Most 11+ tests do not publish a full topic list, so we cannot promise that any one test is covered. The School planner shows what each school’s test is known to use.
